What this tool does

  • Turn horizontal text into vertical plain text before laying out a poster, cover or vertical headline — no manual line breaks needed.
  • Post vertical-looking text in chat apps or forums that have no writing-mode support, by putting one character per line.
  • Lay out traditional right-to-left columns: each source line becomes a column and columns are separated by a blank line.
  • Grab a ready-made HTML snippet with writing-mode and text-orientation already set, and paste it straight into a page.

Example

Input

你好,世界
Hello (UniKit)

Output

你
好
,
世
界

H

l

︵
U
n
i
K

t
︶

This is the default setup (right to left, punctuation rotation on, full-width off): parentheses become the vertical forms ︵ ︶, every source line turns into one column, and columns are separated by a blank line.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the CSS writing-mode property?

The output here is plain text with a line break after every character, so it can be pasted anywhere. writing-mode is a rendering mode that only works inside a web page. The tool gives you both: the text and a ready HTML snippet.

Why did my parentheses turn into odd characters?

Punctuation rotation is on by default and swaps ( ) 「」『』《》【】 for the vertical presentation forms in U+FE30–U+FE4F, so their orientation matches the columns. Uncheck the option to keep the original characters.

What happens to mixed Chinese and English text?

Every character goes on its own line, so English words get split letter by letter. Turn on full-width conversion to give ASCII characters an even width in vertical layout; spaces become U+3000.

What about empty input or trailing blank lines?

Line endings are normalised and trailing blank lines are dropped before conversion. Empty text produces empty output rather than an error, and the column count follows the non-empty lines.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. Conversion and preview run entirely in your browser with JavaScript, the page makes no network requests, and it keeps working offline.
