- Spell text out with the NATO phonetic alphabet so codes, flight numbers, licence plates and serial numbers survive a phone or radio call intact.
- Reverse parsing: turn a string like Alpha Bravo Charlie back into ABC to confirm what the other side read out.
- Digits can be read as English words (5 → Five) or kept as-is, whichever convention you and the other party agreed on.
- A full alphabet reference sits below the input, so you can read straight off the page without looking anything up.
Example
Input
UniKit
Output
Uniform November India Kilo India Tango
By default spaces and punctuation are kept, digits are read as words and the table spelling (capitalised words) is used. Enable uppercase output to get UNIFORM NOVEMBER … instead.
Frequently asked questions
Can Chinese text or emoji be spelled out?
No. The alphabet only covers the 26 latin letters and 10 digits; every other character is skipped and the page lists the ignored characters as a warning. To transmit Chinese, convert it to pinyin or Unicode escapes first.
Why does reverse parsing lose my spaces?
Because whitespace only acts as a separator between words. Sierra Oscar Sierra parses back to SOS, not S O S — spaces in the input cannot be recovered as characters. If the spacing matters, record it while encoding.
Are both Alfa and Alpha accepted?
Yes. Parsing accepts Alfa, Juliett (and Juliet), Whiskey (and Whisky) and X-ray (and Xray), plus the radio digit Niner, so material from different sources still decodes.
Why does parsing fail with "unknown word"?
If a single token is neither a word from the alphabet nor a single non-letter character, the whole parse fails. The usual causes are a typo, or feeding text that was produced by the encode mode back into the decoder.
