Planet weight converter

Convert Earth weight to the eight planets, the Moon and the Sun using NASA Planetary Fact Sheet surface gravities (Mercury 3.7, Mars 3.721, Jupiter 24.79 m/s²): 70 kg becomes 26.56 kg on Mars and 176.95 kg on Jupiter, with the actual force in newtons and a full comparison table.

What this tool does

  • Teaching: show that weight changes while mass does not, with the newton value to separate the two.
  • Science fiction and games: give characters plausible numbers for a Mars base or Jupiter station.
  • Training and fitness: estimate how loads, jumps and bone loading differ at other gravities.

Example

Input

60

Output

地球上 60 kg,在木星上相当于 151.667177 kg(木星重力 24.79 m/s²)
换算倍数:24.79 ÷ 9.807 = 2.527786
实际重力:1487.4 N(质量 × 该行星重力加速度)

70 kg on Mars reads 26.5596 kg (0.379×) with an actual force of 260.47 N.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the gravity values come from?

From the NASA Goddard Planetary Fact Sheet equatorial surface gravity in m/s²: Mercury 3.7, Venus 8.87, Earth 9.807, Mars 3.721, Jupiter 24.79, Saturn 10.44, Uranus 8.87, Neptune 11.15, plus the Moon at 1.62 and the Sun at 274. Gas giants use the 1-bar level since they have no solid surface.

Why do Venus and Uranus both read 8.87?

Coincidence. Venus is smaller and lighter than Earth and lands at about 8.87 m/s²; Uranus is far more massive but also far larger, giving the same figure. Both are slightly weaker than Earth.

Does weight change mean mass changes?

No. Mass is the amount of matter and stays the same everywhere (70 kg is 70 kg); only weight changes. Saying “26.6 kg on Mars” folds Mars gravity back through Earth gravity — physically you should say “260.47 N of weight”.

Why 2.5× on Jupiter?

Jupiter's gravity is 24.79 m/s², which is 24.79 ÷ 9.807 = 2.528 times Earth's, so the same mass experiences 2.528× the force. The Sun is even more extreme: 274 ÷ 9.807 ≈ 27.94×.

Can I use the Moon or the Sun?

Yes — both are in the list (Moon 1.62, Sun 274). The Sun entry is an extreme comparison only; you would be vaporised instantly.
