Wi-Fi QR code generator
Enter an SSID and password to build a Wi-Fi QR code that phones can join in one scan — WPA/WPA2, WEP, open and WPA2 Enterprise networks, hidden SSIDs, correctly escaped payload, copy or download.

Wi-Fi QR code
Scan it with a phone camera or QR app to join.
Enter a network name to generate the QR code.
WIFI:T:WPA;S:UniKit-5G;P:unikit-2026;;
What this tool does
- Put a Wi-Fi QR code on the counter, in the meeting room or on the fridge so guests join by scanning instead of reading a long password out loud.
- Android and iOS both read the WIFI: payload natively (the iOS 11+ camera does it out of the box), so nobody needs to install an app.
- Make separate codes for a guest network and a WPA2-Enterprise network by switching the security type; hidden networks simply add H:true.
- Download a 512px PNG for a printed card, or copy the WIFI: string into your own page or documentation.
Example
Input
Network name (SSID): UniKit-5G Security: WPA/WPA2 Password: coffee2026
Output
WIFI:T:WPA;S:UniKit-5G;P:coffee2026;;
This is the exact string encoded in the QR code. If the SSID or password contains \ ; , : or ", those characters are backslash-escaped (password p@ss;word becomes p@ss\;word) as the ZXing WIFI: format requires.
Frequently asked questions
What is stored in the QR code, and is my password exposed?
It stores the plain-text WIFI:T:WPA;S:name;P:password;; payload, so the password is readable by anyone who can scan the code. Only share the code with people you trust, or hand out a guest network instead. The page itself uploads nothing — the code is rendered locally in your browser.
How do open and enterprise networks work?
Choosing "No password" omits the P: field entirely, giving WIFI:T:nopass;S:name;;. Choosing WPA2 Enterprise adds I: with your login identity and keeps P: as the login password, using T:WPA2-EAP; some devices still need a certificate profile to connect.
What about hidden networks that do not broadcast their SSID?
Enabling the hidden switch appends H:true to the payload. It does not make the QR code shorter or harder to scan; it just tells the phone the SSID must be probed for actively.
Why does my network name contain backslashes or semicolons?
The WIFI: format uses ; between fields and : between key and value, so those characters plus \ , and " must be escaped as \; \: \\ \, and \". The tool escapes them for you, which is easy to get wrong by hand.
What if the generated code will not scan?
Usual causes are screen glare, low resolution, or an escaped character edited out by hand. Copy the WIFI: string shown on the page to double-check it, then download the 512px PNG for printing. Non-ASCII SSIDs are encoded as UTF-8; very old devices may show mojibake yet still connect.
