WeChat multi-instance command generator

Generate real WeChat multi-instance launch commands: Windows batch lines, macOS open -n -a or nohup, and a Wine setup for Linux. Pick 1–20 copies and a custom executable path; the tool only writes text and never runs it.

Runs in your browserEvery computation happens in your browser — your data never leaves this device.

Target system
Kill leftover WeChat processes firstAdds taskkill /IM WeChat.exe /F at the top so new instances do not exit when WeChat is already running.

Script content

Copy or download and save it yourself: .bat on Windows, .sh on macOS / Linux (chmod +x before running).

@echo off
chcp 65001 >nul
REM WeChat multi-instance launcher - 3 copy(s)
REM Generated by unikit (wechat-multi). Text only - nothing is executed for you.
REM Close any running WeChat first, otherwise the extra instances exit immediately.
taskkill /IM WeChat.exe /F >nul 2>&1
start "" "C:\Program Files\Tencent\WeChat\WeChat.exe"
start "" "C:\Program Files\Tencent\WeChat\WeChat.exe"
start "" "C:\Program Files\Tencent\WeChat\WeChat.exe"
echo Launched 3 WeChat instance(s).
pause

Instances: 3 · Script lines: 11 · Output bytes: 490

What this tool does

  • Generate a one-shot multi-instance launch script for the system you use, e.g. to run a work and a personal WeChat side by side
  • Regenerate the commands after switching computers or reinstalling, without remembering start "" or open -n -a syntax
  • Point the script at a custom install location (D: drive, portable build) instead of the default path

Example

Input

Target system: Windows
Instances: 2
Executable path: (empty, default C:\Program Files\Tencent\WeChat\WeChat.exe)
Kill leftover processes first: yes

Output

@echo off
chcp 65001 >nul
REM WeChat multi-instance launcher - 2 copy(s)
REM Generated by unikit (wechat-multi). Text only - nothing is executed for you.
REM Close any running WeChat first, otherwise the extra instances exit immediately.
taskkill /IM WeChat.exe /F >nul 2>&1
start "" "C:\Program Files\Tencent\WeChat\WeChat.exe"
start "" "C:\Program Files\Tencent\WeChat\WeChat.exe"
echo Launched 2 WeChat instance(s).
pause

This is the real output for the options above (a .bat with CRLF line endings). macOS / Linux produce a .sh with LF endings instead.

Frequently asked questions

Which systems can run the generated commands?

They are separate: Windows gets a .bat that runs start "" "<WeChat path>" once per instance; macOS gets a .sh using open -n -a on the app bundle or nohup on Contents/MacOS/WeChat; Linux gets a .sh that uses Wine with a separate WINEPREFIX per instance. A script only works on the system it was generated for.

Does the tool run these commands for me?

No. It only concatenates text: no network access, no inspection of your WeChat installation and no command execution. You copy or download the result and run it yourself.

Is running multiple WeChat instances risky?

Yes. WeChat does not officially support it, so it is an unofficial workaround that may violate the software licence and carries a risk of account limits or bans. Understand the trade-off, decide for yourself and test with a throwaway account rather than your main one.

On Windows the .bat opens only one window (or the new window closes instantly). Why?

Usually WeChat is already running: it detects the existing process and the new instance exits immediately. The batch file already starts with taskkill /IM WeChat.exe /F, and if that is not enough, end every WeChat.exe in Task Manager before running it. A wrong path also fails silently — copy the real one from the shortcut properties (right-click → Properties → Target).

What is the maximum number of instances?

The generator allows 1–20. How many actually start depends on RAM, the WeChat version and account limits; the script performs no bypass, so a high count may only partly succeed.
