What this tool does

  • Debug mojibake or mismatched escaping: turn a U+4E2D style dump back into real Chinese characters.
  • Write Chinese as \uXXXX so it survives config files, log formats or legacy scripts that only accept ASCII.
  • Generate HTML entities (中) for mail templates to dodge encoding problems in different clients.
  • Verify a character by its code point against the Unicode charts — confirm you have 中 (U+4E2D) and not a look-alike compatibility glyph.

Example

Input

U+4E2D U+6587

Output

中 文

Escaping works code point by code point (emoji surrogate pairs count as one character); decoding accepts mixed text with separators.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the five escape formats?

U+4E2D is the official Unicode notation and reads best; 4E2D is bare hex and shortest; \4E2D is the CSS content escape; 中 is an HTML/XML hex entity; \u{4E2D} is the ES6 code point escape. The content is identical — pick the one your target environment understands.

How does decoding tell bare hex from a normal word?

The bare-hex branch requires 4–6 hex digits with no hex letter or digit on either side, so name4E2D is not chopped and abc is not read as a code point. If your text legitimately contains such strings, switch the bare-hex option off.

Are emoji split into two code points?

No. Escaping iterates by code point with for...of, so 😀 is the single code point U+1F600. When decoding, values inside the surrogate range such as U+D83D raise an error, because a lone surrogate cannot form a valid character.

Why does U+110000 fail?

The maximum Unicode code point is U+10FFFF. Anything beyond that is invalid, and the tool throws instead of silently truncating, so you never get a wrong character. Decimal entities above U+10FFFF are rejected the same way.

Can the separator be changed?

Yes. The default is a single space so segments line up visually; an empty separator gives U+4E2DU+6587. Decoding does not rely on the separator because every notation carries its own terminator.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Everything is computed locally in the browser code point by code point and the text never leaves the device.
