List character deleter
Delete characters at chosen positions from every line of a list — 1-based positions, comma lists and 3-5 ranges, counting from the left or the right, measured in Unicode code points so a Chinese character or emoji occupies exactly one position.

Result
One item per line, counted by Unicode code points, ready to copy.
Paste a list and positions to delete characters in bulk
Lines: 0 · Changed: 0 · Characters removed: 0
What this tool does
- Remove characters that always sit at the same offset, e.g. separators inside an order number.
- Strip a check digit or placeholder at position N in bulk so the data becomes plain numbers again.
- One position list (1,3,5-8) works for rows of different lengths — out-of-range positions are skipped.
Example
Input
apple banana
Output
pple anana
Deleting position 1 removes the leading letter from each line, leaving pple and anana.
Frequently asked questions
Are positions 1-based or 0-based?
1-based, matching “the nth character”. 0 or a negative value is rejected instead of silently meaning position 1; a range like 3-5 means positions 3, 4 and 5 and must not run backwards.
How do negative positions work?
They are not supported. To count from the other end switch “Position direction” to “From the right”, where position 1 is the last character — so 1 deletes the trailing character of each line.
What if a position is beyond the line length?
That position is ignored and the other positions still apply — no error and no padding. One position list therefore works for rows of different lengths, and the removed-character counter only counts real deletions.
How are Chinese characters counted?
One Chinese character is one position and one emoji is one position, because counting walks Unicode code points, so nothing is split in half. Composite emoji such as skin-tone variants occupy several positions.
