Paste a list to add a separator
Input lines: 0 · Output lines: 0 · Separators added: 0 · Separator length: 0
What this tool does
- Append commas or semicolons to every line so the list drops straight into code, SQL or config.
- Turn a list into a pipe- or tab-separated intermediate format for the next step of your pipeline.
- Prefix each line with `- ` for a Markdown list, or suffix `\` to continue a multi-line command.
Example
Input
apple banana cherry
Output
apple, banana, cherry,
By default a comma is appended to every line, including the last one, which is handy for pasting a list into a code statement.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the separator go?
Three positions: suffix (the default) appends to every line, prefix prepends to every line, and join inserts it once between lines only — no leading or trailing separator. In join mode the lines end up on a single line.
Does the last line get one too?
In suffix and prefix mode yes, by default; clear “Also on the last line” to leave it bare, which is what you want when the final item in generated code must not carry a comma.
How do I type a tab?
Put `\t` in the separator field and it becomes a real tab; `\n` is a newline, `\r` a carriage return and `\\` a literal backslash. Pasting an actual tab character works too.
Can the separator be several characters?
Yes — `, ` or `||` are fine. The “separator length” stat counts Unicode code points, so `\t` is written as two characters but counts as 1 after resolution.
