List right remover
Delete the last N characters from every line of a line-based list — counted by Unicode code points so nothing is cut mid-character, lines shorter than N become empty and are dropped by default, with changed, removed and emptied counters.

Result
One item per line, counted by Unicode code points, ready to copy.
Paste a list to delete the right N characters of each line
Lines: 0 · Changed: 0 · Characters removed: 0 · Emptied: 0
What this tool does
- Strip a shared file extension so a file list keeps only the base names.
- Remove the trailing delimiter (comma, pipe, tab) an export left at the end of each row.
- Drop a trailing marker or timestamp suffix so records of the same kind line up.
Example
Input
red# green# blue#
Output
red green blue
With N = 1 the trailing # marker disappears and the bare colours remain.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as “keep the left N characters”?
For lines longer than N the results are identical — both equal the substring from the start to position N+1 from the end. They differ when N is longer than the line: this tool empties the line (and drops it by default) while the cutter keeps it whole.
How do negative positions work?
There are none. N must be an integer no smaller than 0 and a negative value is rejected instead of deleting from the left; use “remove left N characters” for that.
How are Chinese characters counted?
One Chinese character is 1 and one emoji is 1 — counting walks Unicode code points, so no character is ever split in half. Composite emoji such as skin-tone variants count as several code points.
What if N is longer than the line?
The line becomes empty and is dropped as a blank line by default; the “Emptied” counter records how many. Turn off “Drop blank lines” to keep those rows as empty placeholders.
