Without replacement: the six items are shuffled with seed 42 and the first three are taken. The same seed always yields the same result.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a draw reproducible?
Fill in the seed: the same seed plus the same list and count always produces the same picks, because the tool uses its own mulberry32 PRNG. Leave the seed empty to use system randomness, where every run differs.
What does “allow repeats” mean?
By default drawing N items gives N distinct entries, so N cannot exceed the list length (that raises an error). With repeats allowed it becomes a draw with replacement: N may exceed the list length and the same item can be drawn more than once.
How is the remainder computed?
Without repeats, each drawn item is removed from the pool one occurrence at a time (matched by content), and whatever is left is the remainder. With repeats there is no remainder, so the count is 0.
Are duplicate lines treated as separate entries?
Yes. Nothing is deduplicated by default, so duplicate lines are independent candidates and are more likely to be drawn. Turn on “Deduplicate first” to give each value a single slot.
