What this tool does
- Clean noise out of a log or list: drop every line containing debug, OK or PASS in one pass.
- Check for over-deletion: turn on “Show removed lines” to compare what was dropped against what was kept.
- Delete only when several keywords hit at once, e.g. a line must contain both test and debug.
Example
Input
error: disk full info: ok warn: disk 90%
Output
info: ok
Lines containing error are dropped and the rest keep their order.
Frequently asked questions
Are multiple keywords AND or OR?
OR by default: any keyword that hits removes the line. Switch to “every keyword must match” for AND semantics, which is the mode that deserves more care.
What does whole-word matching do?
The keyword may not be preceded or followed by a letter, digit or underscore, so a no longer matches ab, a1 or a_b but still matches (a) and “a ”. Metacharacters inside the keyword are treated literally.
Are blank lines counted as removed?
No — they are dropped before filtering and never appear in the removed list. Turn off “Drop blank lines” and they stay in the result, since they contain no keyword.
How is this different from the list filter tool?
It is the exclude mode of that tool with a single purpose: the default is exclusion, and you also get hit counts and a preview of the removed lines, which makes bulk deletion harder to get wrong.
