Frequently asked questions

Do the results change from day to day?

No. The output depends only on the date you enter, so the same date always yields the same almanac without reading the system clock.

Why does the year pillar switch at Start of Spring instead of the Lunar New Year?

Sexagenary years follow the solar terms: Start of Spring begins the Yin month, so dates before it belong to the previous year.

Where do the suitable and avoid lists come from?

They use the traditional Jianchu day-god table: the gap between the month branch and the day branch selects 建/除/满…, and each maps to its own list.

Is the date I look up stored anywhere?

No. Everything is computed in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
