How do mu, fen, li and hao relate?
Decimal sub-units: 1 mu = 10 fen = 100 li = 1000 hao. Conversely 10 mu = 1 qing.
Why is one mu exactly 2000/3 m²?
One zhang is 10/3 m and one mu is 60 square zhang: 60 × (10/3)² = 2000/3 m². The page shows the 6-decimal truncation 666.666667.
Where do the Taiwanese jia and Japanese mu figures come from?
Both derive from the tsubo (ping), 1 ping = 400/121 ≈ 3.305785 m². The jia is 2934 ping ≈ 9699.17 m² and the Japanese mu 30 ping ≈ 99.1736 m².
