Frequently asked questions
Which edition of the Golden Light Mantra is included?
The most widely circulated common edition of 14 lines, from 天地玄宗,万炁本根 to 急急如律令. Daoist schools and manuscripts differ slightly in wording (五炁 is also written 五气) and punctuation; this site follows the common wording and never merges or rewrites variants.
Only 14 lines — has the text been shortened?
No. The mantra itself is very short and the common edition is exactly these 14 lines. Only the mantra text is included: no ritual instructions, talismans, commentary or claims of efficacy. If your manuscript is longer, that is an edition difference this tool does not splice together.
Can I use this for religious or health purposes?
The tool is for cultural reading and text collation only. It makes no religious claims and gives no medical, health or efficacy advice; for practice, follow the lineage and ritual you belong to.
Why does the wording differ from other websites?
Daoist mantras were transmitted through manuscripts and recitation, so textual variants are common: 五炁 versus 五气, 覆护真人 versus 覆护真身. This site keeps the common edition and does not print variants side by side; for textual criticism use a printed Daozang or a scholarly database.
Does it use the network?
No. The mantra text is a built-in front-end constant; searching, counting and copying all happen in your browser and nothing you type is uploaded.
