URL file name extractor
Pull the file name out of every URL in a list — query and hash stripped, percent escapes such as %20 decoded, with optional deduplication, sorting and a fallback for URLs ending in a slash.

URLs: 0 · With file name: 0 · Missing: 0 · Unique names: 0
What this tool does
- Turn a download list into plain file names to check what is still missing.
- Clean up crawled asset URLs into a readable inventory of files.
- Audit upload naming conventions for stray spaces, non-ASCII characters or mixed case.
Example
Input
https://example.com/files/report.pdf?token=abc https://example.com/img/photo%20one.png#top https://example.com/a/b/
Output
report.pdf photo one.png b
Query and hash are dropped, photo%20one.png decodes to “photo one.png”, and a trailing-slash URL falls back to the previous segment.
Frequently asked questions
What does a URL ending in a slash produce?
An empty line by default, because the last path segment is empty. Enable “Fall back to the previous segment” and https://example.com/downloads/ yields downloads.
Are %20 and non-ASCII escapes decoded?
Yes by default: %20 becomes a space and %E5%B0%81%E9%9D%A2 becomes 封面. Turn “Decode percent escapes” off to keep the raw encoding.
Do query strings and fragments end up in the file name?
No. Everything after ? and # is cut first, so report.pdf?token=abc yields report.pdf.
What if one line holds several links?
Input is parsed as one URL per line, so multiple links on one line produce a single result. Split them first.
