Domain extractor
Pull domain names out of any text — paths, query strings and ports are dropped, multi-level subdomains and multi-part suffixes like example.com.cn are kept, with optional dedupe, sorting and lower-casing.

What this tool does
- Turn a link dump or crawler log into a clean domain list for outreach research or competitor tracking.
- Audit which domains appear in a document before forwarding it, so no unexpected third party slips through.
- Normalise URLs down to domains, then enable dedupe so several pages of one site count once.
Example
Input
See https://www.example.com.cn/docs?page=2 and https://blog.example.com/post, mail ada@example.com, version 1.2.3, host 192.168.1.1.
Output
www.example.com.cn blog.example.com
Paths, ports and query strings are dropped; 1.2.3 is not a domain because its last label is not alphabetic.
Frequently asked questions
Will an IPv4 address or a version number be picked up?
No. The top-level label must be at least two letters, so numeric strings such as 1.2.3 or 192.168.1.1 never match — only shapes like example.com do.
Are domains inside email addresses included?
No. The part after @ belongs to the email extractor, so the same address is not counted twice.
Does it understand example.com.cn?
Yes — the full host name is kept, every subdomain included. Use the primary-domain tool if you want the registered domain.
Is the original capitalisation preserved?
No, domains are lower-cased before output because DNS is case-insensitive. Turn off the lower-case switch to keep the spelling.
What about single-label hosts such as localhost?
They are ignored: the pattern needs a label, a dot and a top-level domain of at least two letters.
