What this tool does
- Stuck on lunch: list the places near the office and let the tool pick one, saving five minutes of debate.
- Draw several dishes at once — three picks makes a full three-dish meal without extra planning.
- Reproduce a draw by writing down the seed, so a bet with friends can be recomputed by anyone.

Selection uses a Fisher–Yates shuffle, so the same seed always produces the same dishes.
Frequently asked questions
Is the result truly random?
It is deterministically pseudo-random. The seed comes from hashing the candidate list and the shuffle is a Fisher–Yates, so the same seed plus the same list always gives the same dishes — reproducible, screenshot-friendly and free of 'you drew it twice' arguments.
How should the candidates be written?
One per line; blank lines are ignored. Leave the box empty to use the built-in menu of 18 home dishes. The candidate limit is 500.
How many dishes can I draw at once?
One to ten. If there are fewer candidates than requested, every candidate is returned with a note instead of repeating a dish.
Why did I get a duplicate?
Duplicates in your list are drawn as-is — the tool does not deduplicate, because 'rice twice today' may genuinely be the plan. Remove the repeated lines first if you do not want that.
What is the pairing suggestion?
One suggestion cycling through staples, soups and vegetables, e.g. 'also serve: egg drop soup'. It can be switched off and shares the same random sequence, so it is reproducible too.
Does it need a network connection?
No, everything is computed locally in the browser.
