What is the difference between mu, are and acre?
Mu is the Chinese market unit (2000/3 ≈ 666.67 m²), the are is metric (100 m²) and the acre is imperial (4046.8564224 m²) — similar names but 6x to 40x apart.
Why is one mu exactly 2000/3 m²?
One mu is 60 square zhang and one zhang is 10/3 m, so 1 mu = 60 × (10/3)² = 2000/3 m². The page prints the 6-decimal truncation 666.666667.
