Angle unit converter
Convert angle units — degrees, radians, gradians, turns, arcminutes, arcseconds, milliradians and both NATO and Soviet mils — with 1° = π/180 rad.

What this tool does
- Convert degrees and radians for graphics code and maths homework.
- Handle artillery and surveying mils: NATO uses 1/6400 turn, the Soviet system 1/6000 — mixing them errs by more than 6%.
- Turn arcminutes and arcseconds into degrees when reading maps and astronomical data.

1° = π/180 rad ≈ 0.017453 rad and 1 rad ≈ 57.29578°; both mil systems (6400 and 6000) are listed.
Frequently asked questions
Is degree to radian exact?
Yes: 1° = π/180 rad and 1 rad = 180/π degrees. π is irrational, so the page prints 6 decimals (0.017453 and 57.29578); compute with Math.PI for more.
How far apart are the two mil systems?
NATO uses 1/6400 turn (≈ 0.05625°) and the Soviet system 1/6000 turn (≈ 0.06°) — about 6.7% apart for the same angle.
Are gradians the same as percentages?
No. A gradian divides a right angle into 100 parts, so a turn is 400 gradians; a percentage describes slope or ratio.
Can angles be converted to time?
In astronomy 1 hour of right ascension equals 15°, but that is a coordinate convention this tool does not cover.
