List converter
Convert comma, newline or JSON-array lists into CSV, JSON, Markdown tables, SQL IN clauses, YAML, HTML list items or plain lines — with dedupe, sorting, trimming, quoting and custom prefix/suffix.
Runs in your browserEvery computation happens in your browser — your data never leaves this device.
Comma and newline separate items by default; delimiters inside quotes are kept. Empty lines are dropped.

000What this tool does
- Move a list between the usual shapes — comma string, one per line, JSON array, CSV, YAML, Markdown table, SQL IN clause, HTML <li> — without retyping it.
- Paste a column of ids from a SQL session and get SELECT ... WHERE id IN (...), with strings quoted and single quotes doubled so the statement cannot break.
- Tidy a deduplicated roster: dedupe keeps the first occurrence, sorting orders by Unicode code point, and the prefix/suffix fields bulk-add quotes or backticks.
- Drop multi-line text into Markdown or HTML safely: the Markdown table escapes | and the HTML mode escapes & < > " so the surrounding document stays intact.
Example
Input
banana, Apple, cherry banana, date
Output
| Value | | --- | | Apple | | banana | | cherry | | date |
This is dedupe + ascending sort + Markdown table: commas and newlines both split, the repeated banana is kept once, and the case-sensitive sort puts capital Apple before lowercase banana.
Frequently asked questions
How does auto-detection pick the input format?
After stripping a BOM and surrounding whitespace, text starting with [ is parsed as a JSON array; anything else is split on the delimiter (comma plus newline by default). To force one-item-per-line, set the input format to "One per line".
Are delimiters inside quotes kept?
Yes. The splitter understands double-quoted items, so "a,b", c yields a,b and c, and a doubled "" inside a quoted item means a literal double quote — standard CSV behaviour.
What happens to empty lines and empty items?
They are dropped. Blank lines, empty items produced by consecutive commas, and (with trimming on) whitespace-only items never reach the result, so the item count carries no noise.
Can a JSON array hold numbers or nested arrays?
Strings, numbers and booleans are fine, and a nested array has its elements joined with spaces ([1, [2, 3]] gives "1" and "2 3"). Objects raise an error, because the converter only deals with one-dimensional text items.
Is my list uploaded anywhere?
No. Parsing and formatting run entirely in your browser with no network requests, and it works offline.
