CSV viewer

Preview CSV or TSV tables in the browser: an RFC 4180 parser, click-to-sort headers, keyword or single-column filtering, and a row cap with a notice for large files.

Runs in your browserEvery computation happens in your browser — your data never leaves this device.

Viewer settings

The parser follows RFC 4180; to keep the page responsive at most 2000 rows are rendered, 200 by default.

What this tool does

  • Take a quick look at a CSV without installing a spreadsheet app or writing a script — paste it and the table appears.
  • Sort by any column to spot outliers: headers are clickable and numeric columns sort by value (9 before 10), never by string order.
  • Filter with a keyword or restrict the search to one column; matching and total row counts are shown separately so you can tell whether the filter did what you meant.
  • Handle huge files: only 200 rows are rendered by default, with a notice when the rest is hidden, so the browser never freezes on a giant table.

Example

Input

name,city,age
Alice,"Beijing, CN",36
Bob,Shanghai,41
Cara,Beijing,29

Output

Cara | Beijing | 29
Alice | Beijing, CN | 36
(2 rows match out of 3; showing the first 2)

This is the result after filtering for "beijing", sorting by age ascending and limiting the view to 2 rows: Cara and Alice match, Bob is filtered out.

Frequently asked questions

How does the sorting compare values?

If both cells parse as complete numbers they are compared numerically (so 9 < 10 < 100), otherwise the comparison is case-insensitive text with the original string as a final tie-breaker for stable ordering. Empty cells compare as empty strings rather than jumping elsewhere.

Can I view a really large file end to end?

No, and it would not help: rendering hundreds of thousands of rows freezes the page. The cap is 200 rows by default and can be raised to 2000. For very large data, narrow it down with a filter first or split the file with a text tool.

Does the filter search all columns or one?

By default it looks for the keyword in every column, case-insensitively. Pick a column in the "Search in" dropdown to restrict matching to that column, which is what you want for queries like "city equals Beijing".

What if the delimiter or the header is detected wrongly?

The delimiter is guessed from the first line; if it guesses wrong, choose comma, semicolon, tab or pipe in the dropdown. If the first row is data rather than a header, untick the option and columns become column1, column2, …. Both changes re-render the table immediately.

Is the file uploaded anywhere?

No. Parsing, filtering and sorting all happen in your browser, the page makes no network requests, and it works offline. The data only lives in the current tab and is gone after a refresh.
