AWS cost calculator

Estimate a monthly AWS bill from an offline price list: EC2 instance hours, EBS volumes, S3 storage and requests, RDS instance plus storage, and internet data transfer, itemised with a total.

Runs in your browserEvery computation happens in your browser — your data never leaves this device.

EC2 instances

On-demand Linux, us-east-1 reference prices; enter monthly hours, 730 for a full month.

EBS block storage

S3 object storage

RDS databases

Data transfer

The first 100 GB are free; anything above is billed per GB.

Cost estimate

EC2 · t3.micro: $7.59
EBS · gp3 · 100 GiB: $8.00
S3 storage · standard · 1000 GB: $23.00
S3 requests · 1000000 requests: $5.00
RDS instance · db.t4g.micro: $11.68
RDS storage · 100 GiB: $11.50
Data transfer · 100 GB: $9.00
Total: $75.77

The price list is a built-in constant (approximate public us-east-1 rates captured 2026-10). The tool never queries the network and never uploads your usage.

What this tool does

  • Sanity-check a new project: one t3.micro for a full month plus a 100 GiB volume plus a small RDS gives you a ballpark figure fast.
  • Compare options: switch EC2 from t3.medium to m7g.large, or storage from gp3 to st1, and read the difference straight off the total.
  • Find the budget hog: enter your real usage per section and see whether compute, storage or traffic dominates.
  • Paste the itemised numbers into a design review instead of saying “a few dozen dollars”.

Example

Input

EC2 t3.micro for 730 hours; EBS gp3 100 GiB; S3 standard 1000 GB + 1M requests; RDS db.t4g.micro 730 hours + 100 GiB; 200 GB internet egress

Output

EC2 $7.59 + EBS $8.00 + S3 storage $23.00 + S3 requests $5.00 + RDS instance $11.68 + RDS storage $11.50 + transfer $9.00, total $75.77

Only the 100 GB above the free tier is billed for transfer, and each line is rounded to whole cents before summing, so no cent can go missing.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate are the prices, and does it query AWS?

It never touches the network. The price list is a constant compiled into the tool from approximate public us-east-1 rates captured in 2026-10 and labelled “reference prices — the official bill is authoritative”. It is meant for order-of-magnitude estimates, not invoice reconciliation.

Why is there no floating point drift?

Unit prices are stored as integer milli-cents (1/1000 of a cent). The maths multiplies integers, divides by 1000 and rounds to whole cents, and the total is a plain integer sum. So 730 hours × 1.04 cents/hour is exactly 759 cents, never 758.9999999.

What is left out?

Reserved instance and savings plan discounts, tax, CloudWatch and logs, snapshots and backups, cross-AZ or cross-region traffic, NAT gateways, load balancers, and S3 lifecycle tiering. A real bill is usually higher than this estimate.

How is the free transfer tier applied?

Following AWS’s public allowance, the first 100 GB of internet egress per month is free and only the excess is billed. 100 GB costs nothing while 200 GB is billed as 100 GB. The allowance resets monthly and does not accumulate.

Can I price several EC2 instances of different sizes?

Yes. Press “Add another instance” and each one gets its own line. Multiple instances of the same size can also be merged into a single row by adding their hours, which gives exactly the same result.
